Town Manager's Message

I am pleased to welcome you to the Town of La Crosse. Our town has a long history as the crossroads of rail transportation in Southside Virginia. We look forward to the southeast high-speed train coming through town again in the next few years. Today we are at the crossroads of Interstate 85 and US Route 58. La Crosse is ideally located at the midpoint between Richmond and Raleigh and is just a few miles from the natural wonders of Lake Gaston. Our town is a great place to live and work, combining ample available commercially zoned land and low taxes with a friendly small-town atmosphere.

TOWN MANAGER REPORTS

Larry DiRe was hired as Town Manager in June 2002. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from St. John’s University in New York City and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to coming to La Crosse he worked in the town manager’s office in Leesburg, VA, the Institute of Government at UNC, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Department, and a national architecture/engineering firm.
